Bad habits are very difficult to get rid of. However, with a lot of effort, everyone can do it. I must say that I still have some of these bad habits that are affecting a big part of my work and personal life. However, I am working hard to block out all of the bad habits or at least some part of them.

Here in this article, I will share some steps, I took in order to peruse my success and happiness.

I want this article to be different and make it more personal. I am hoping for those of you who have the chance to read it and then change something in your life.  You might agree and disagree for some of the things I will share but, go ahead and share your thought.

No Excuses

At the end of the day, let there be no excuses, no explanations, no regrets. ― Steve Maraboli

This is probably one of the worst habits in all of the human history. I hate to find excuses and often still do it regardless. I have had weeks and sometimes months without trying to find excuse for something. For example, I wanted to start a new blog talking about my traveling experience and share it with the world. Can you guess for how long, I have been postponing this? I have been doing this for months already. If you honestly asking me, what stopped me achieve my goals? The answer is my stupid excuses. I can bet that this is the case for many of you reading this article.

The best way to go around the excuses is to act instantly. If you do not do it the day you have thought of doing something. You might never find the time to do it. Waiting for the right time is long and pointless process. It is one big excuse that prevents you of being successful.

Listening to Other People

Listen, but act with your own thoughts. – My Quote

Listening to others eventually will become bad habit. The problem with that is that it might be too late to get away from this bad habit. The reason for being too late is because, you might have already made changes in your life that is simply very difficult to change. It all depends from the circumstances. I have listened to my friends and family many times and many times that had affected my personal life. If I continued to listen to the others or simply trying to copy someone, I am living someone’s else life not mine. In the Asian culture, for example, the younger generation have to listen to the elderly. Well, I am not Asian but what life would that be if you are constantly listening to someone? I understand it is offensive if you do not comply with their requests. My personal opinion is that this is little overwhelming and each person is different with their own dreams. I personally think, the best way is to stop listening to the others and start taking your life in your hands.

Social Media

The more social media we have, the more we think we’re connecting, yet we are really disconnecting from each other. -JR

Social media is bad habit and I have more articles discussing the topic. I cannot remember the last time when, I read something useful. The urge the be liked and not get rejected by the society makes you go and waste extraordinary amount of time. I am not saying that social media is not useful or there is not any need of it. The point is that there is a limit for everything in this life. I have personally set a limit for myself of how long to spend on social media each day. This has helped me realize that sitting there and jumping from post to post will not get my job done. Neither, it will make my way to success shorter.

The solution to this bad habit is to first set a limit and gradually improve upon that limit. Try to be more productive during the day. Take a walk in the park instead if you just want to refresh your mind. It will make you feel much better than just browsing on social media.

Instant Results

“Nothing comes as an accomplishment instantly. Success does not come overnight. Patience is the key! Grow up and be the tree; but remember it takes dry and wet seasons to become a fruit bearer, achiever and impact maker!”
― Israelmore AyivorThe Great Hand Book of Quotes

I have personally always struggled with the instant results. It can become a bad habit of wanting something to happen instantly. In business this is the killer of ideas and creativity. There is nothing instant in life. It takes time for a stone to fall on the ground. The sunrise needs time. It takes time for you to start believing, that instant results are myth. There are no shortcuts to success. If you have read another article how to make $100 instantly. I will tell you that is clearly some sort of scam.

I have troubles often trying to break out of this bad habit. It is affecting my creativity and productivity. I am focusing too much on the outcome. I am expecting something to happen too fast and perhaps you too. It is very easy to forget the reality. I am trying to focus on improving some stuff and search for better way of doing the same job, which is my next point. I try to forget that instant results do not exist.

Anger

“The best fighter is never angry.” ― Lao Tzu

Anger is very bad habit and often when I am angry, I become very different person. It is impossible even to speak to me. I tend to even ignore suggestions to fix my own mistakes. My anger only limits my brain and I get stuck in that black hole created in my own head. My mind is in a constant loop. Anger can be a success killer. If you are constantly angry it is certain that you are going to ignore the reality and get blind folded.

I am tackling my anger by trying to be more patient than usual and also tunnelling my thoughts into possible solutions to my problems it will take time and nothing comes instantly.

There are many factors affecting the way we think and the way we behave. However, there is only one reason for our failures. That reason is “us”. We are responsible for the failure and success of our own ventures. I cannot blame anyone else except me. How many of these things do you recognise?

Please share this article and like it. I am trying to help other people to identify their bad habits and gradually block them away.
